The United States of America tends to topple the Governments in any part of the world
where a US citizen is killed. But is that anymore a case? Let us perform a retrospective.
Of late, every Goverment in United Stated of America have been funding
Pakistan to the nose in order to maintain a stake in the affairs of Asia as well as to counter the
erstwhile USSR. Even after the disintegration of USSR and thus the end of cold war two decades ago, the
successive Governments of the United Stated have found it beneficial to aid Pakistan in
order to achieve the unknown in South East Asian region. All this while, the aid and the
weapons donated by the USA have been used by Pakistan to either directly attack India
(and to be humiliated at the end) or to fight the proxy war in shape of the
state-sponsored terror against the same country since 1980. All this while, the 'peaceful' and
'peace-loving', 'truly democrated' country called India has been crying foul but to no
heed by any of the successive US leaderships. The US agencies have committed many grave
mistakes all this while. Even the dreaded Taliban, a grave danger to the entire
world community were the brain-child of whom, the whole world knows. Talibans were erected
and funded to fight against the Russian forces in Afghanistan. Later these very Taliban
captured power in Afghanistan and in collusion with the likes of Al-Qaida implemented
a number of terror attacks on the entire world including the 9/11 attack on the U.S.
There might have been compulsions of these US aids to Pakistan until the last decade of
twentieth century, but what the world including myself fails to understand is, 'what
is the compulsion now for a democracy like USA to aid a rogue state called Pakistan?'
First fact that goes against this aid is that the world's worst terrorist and America's enemy number one, Osama bin Laden has
been found not in the backyard but virtually the living room of Pakistan; a stone's throw
away from their military academy. As if that was not enough, another wanted terrorist
David Colman Headley, real name Daood sayed Gilani has spilled the beans about Pakistan.
I will not go into much details as this will be a waste of time
Headley, who testified in Chicago court that he started working with Lashkar terror
outfit in 2000, has said the terror outfit Lashkar and
Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency, known as ISI, operate under the same
umbrella. Pakistan has repeated what it has maintained since 2008, that the ISI had no
links to Lashkar. India has been shouting from rooftop since early eighties of the
last century that the terrorism in India and elsewhere is state-sponsored by Pakistan.
If the Governments in the United States failed to realize this or conveniently
ignored this in past, here is the proof being admitted now in a US court of law.
'Your terrorism and my terrorism', 'your terrorist and my terrorist'; these phrases
are obsolete in this ever shrinking global village. In fact these always were. A
terrorist is a terrorist for all. But
the Governments in the United States have perhaps miserably failed or avoided to understand this
simple fact. For them, the terror in India meant the terror for India.
But if that was
the case, then why the accused of 11/26/2008 attack on India are now being tried in the United
States? I want the answer.
Prosecutors in Chicago court also showed video surveillance that Headley took in
Copenhagen (Denmark) in order to facilitate a
potential attack in Denmark. Headley admitted to helping plan an attack on Copenhagen
that never could happen. Had that happened, God forbid, there could have been casualties
of the US citizens there as well.
Now talking about the seriousness of the US governments to save the lives of the US
citizens. It has been the history of the US that if a single US citizen gets killed
in any part of the world, the Goverment machinery in US tends to topsy-turvy the
Governments in that part of the world using all their might in order to seek justice
and bring the culprits to book. But what you might
find interesting to think is, 'is it a move to set an example so that no one lets a
harm on any US citizen in future or is it just an act of revenge/pretence/show
of might?'
As far as my mind makes me believe is that the first argument holds good. It must be
a move to make
the circumstances such that there is no undue casualty of the US citizens anywhere in future.
But if that is the case, then punishing one David Colman Headley or Tahavvur Rana
will not do. Punish them with death sentence all right but that is not enough. You
have to annihilate the machinery which is producing these terrorists. The least
your Government can do in this regard is to stop aiding the same machinery. A single
dollar of
help to Pakistan can help loss of some more US citizen's lives in some part of the world.
Dear US citizens, your Government shall try to make you digest a few more arguements if
and when it aids Pakistan in future. One of the arguments will be that each and every
dollar given to that country shall be taken account of. My answer to this is, there is
no way in this world by which you can tame even a corporate house against financial
frauds. Pakistanis have been deceiving about this in past and can do it in future.
Secondly, even if you take accounts of all the expenditures and assume or
ensure that all the aid money upto the last cent has been utilized as the US
desires, this aid has in fact saved Pakistan's own money that it would have spent on the same
genuine need! The money saved thus can and will be spend on the same terror machinery
that no one in this world desires except Pakistan.
Pakistan is a state which fails to make its both ends meet without outside help and
is going to remain that way. It does not have money to sponsor terrorism all by itself.
If Pakistan is left to starve, the terrorism world-over shall die a natural death
(or should I say 'starve to death!'). This
is a point which needs to be thought of in depth. The moment the leadership of Pakistan
finds a few extra bucks, they tend to spend it to spread mischief around the world.
They have been
fooling their helpers for the last six decades and the helpers which are considered
more intelligent than the beggars ought to understand this simple fact now. If your goverment
still ignores this fact which may cost you your life or limbs in future, you must
question it. The citizens of democracies have this right to question. Before
elections also you must take promises from the political parties that they shall
in no way help a country like Pakistan with a single cent so that world including
the US citizens can sleep with peace for the times to come.
This is to determine your Governments seriousness in protecting your lives rather than
to let you die first and then prosecute the murderers. There is definitely one more
way for your Government to protect you; that is to issue an advisory if not forcefully
preventing you from going anywhere outside the United States, including the Europe. No
one is safe nowhere in the world if Pakistan flourishes, even if your Government
is able to protect you within
your country. That security within the country too cannot be fool-proof, you must
understand this. The Times Square blast in New York is an example. US has been
utmost serious about security after 9/11. Still this blast happened. No security is
fool proof. Even
if it is, would you like to be confined within four-walls of your own country
forever? Wouldn't you like the whole world to be safe for you and your future
generations
Today is not an age of conquests. We are well into 21st century and in the age of global
co-operation. The US can surely have a stake in Asia and its business by having cordial
relations with india. The US president Mr. Barack Obama well understands this
and has reflected his views time and again. His recent visit to India was historical. US
does not need pakistan for any of its legitimate needs in this region. Co-operation with
India is much more beneficial and desirable for the well being of both the countries
rather than calling Pakistan as US's natural ally for the war against terrorism; thereby
alienating India. Pakistan can be an ally in a 'war for terrorism' and not in the 'war
against terrorism'. Being an ally of Pakistan can make you stand in accused box
in the times not far. US funds Pakistan and Pakistan funds terror. So according
to simple mathematics US is funding what? As a tax payer you are funding
the US exchequer, so you are funding what?
Hillary Clinton has said that Pakistan did not know about Osama hiding in abotabad.
She talks about how 'emotionally' the Pakistani leaders have told her this. I ask, "Is
there a place for 'emotional fools' in the world politics? Can you survive if you trust
the tears coming out from the eyes of an aligator?" Most probably Hillary too does not
believe them. Even if she does, what about the daily revelations being made by
Headley? She is giving a clean chit to Pakistan perhaps only to justify the ruthless
aid been given by her Government to Pakistan which unfortunately according to me they plan to
continue in future. Americans may die, Americans may get lame or maimed or blinded
in terror attacks, but American Government plans never seem to change. It is only
the citizens of the US which can and may force a change and I think they should and
they must.
The Govermnents have invited the Governments and succeeded as well, but now a citizen
of the largest democracy of the world is inviting the citizens of perhaps the greatest democracy
of the world for a true and long lasting friendship. So do not forget to ask questions
when a single cent of your hard-earned money as a tax-payer goes to Pakistan and
funds terror.
